HBCU Tours

For several years, THEC has planned and sponsored college tours. These tours have covered both in-state and out-of-state schools. These college tours are designed to give students an onsite view of college life.

During the Fall and Winter, students visit schools within the Illinois and surrounding areas. Approximately 400 students per year take advantage of these tours, which focus on schools closer to their homes. During the Fall and Spring, THEC tours Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Approximately 300 students (primarily juniors and seniors in high school) participate.

These tours provide students with a campus visit and an opportunity to visit African American historical sites. Students are required to keep a reflection journal and to compile written evaluations of each college or university.

Sponsorship opportunities are available to support the on-going efforts of successfully providing these tours to our students. For further information regarding our tours please contact us at (773) 966-1508 or use our contact form.

THEC Scholar

SHANTE PERKINS

Michelle Clark High School, Chicago, IL., Class of 2009

2008 Chung Hwe Park Scholarship recipient; University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Pine Bluff, AR.

The Trinity Higher Education Corporation (THEC) is proud to recognize Shante Perkins, a THEC Scholar that has distinguished herself through her dedication to scholarship, her church, and community.  This young woman has a strong desire for success, and has continued to mature into an accomplished student and role model for other students within her community.

Shante has just completed her sophomore year at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), with major studies in Sociology.  Her recent election into UAPB’s Honors Scholars Organization provides further evidence of her desire to remain focused towards being successful.  Not settling to just “beat the odds” for success, that may have eluded several of her high school classmates, but creating an example to “change the odds” for peers and others that follow her.

The Trinity Higher Education Corporation salutes Shante Perkins, a 2009 THEC Scholar, and continues to support her desire to “change the odds for success.”
